* Mozilla 1.6 with gtk2 and complex script rendering support with Pango - build id : Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.6) Gecko/20040118 - build configuration options: --enable-mathml --enable-crypto --enable-xft --enable-default-toolkit=gtk2 --enable-optimize=-O2 --disable-debug --disable-tests --without-system-nspr --without-system-zlib --without-system-jpeg --without-system-png --without-system-mng - This build was made from the Mozilla 1.6 release source with the following patch applied : http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/attachment.cgi?id=138471 - It was built on Fedora Core 1 with the following compilers: gcc version 3.3.2 20031022 (Red Hat Linux 3.3.2-1) -Wall -W -Wno-unused -Wpointer-arith -Wcast-align -Wno-long-long -pedantic -pthread -pipe g++ version 3.3.2 20031022 (Red Hat Linux 3.3.2-1) -fno-rtti -fno-exceptions -Wall -Wconversion -Wpointer-arith -Wcast-align -Woverloaded-virtual -Wsynth -Wno-ctor-dtor-privacy -Wno-long-long -pedantic -fshort-wchar -pthread -pipe -I/usr/X11R6/include - For more details, see bug 215219 (http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=215219). - With this patch, Mozilla can render complex scripts (Indic scripts such as Devanagari, Tamil, Malaylalam, and Thai script) that are supported by Pango. Mozilla relies on Pango library (http://www.pango.org) installed on your system and its rendering capability depends on that of Pango. Therefore, Khmer, Bengali, Telugu, Lao, Burmese and other complex scripts can be supported by Mozilla as soon as Pango supports them. - You also need to install opentype fonts for complex scripts. For instance, you have to install Raghindi for Devanagari and Thoolika for Malaylalam. - There are some remaining problems. Especially, the cursor movement, selection (copy & paste), deleting and inserting are not done by grapheme cluster (syllable). See http://bugzilla.mozilla.rog/show_bug.cgi?id=229896 - If you have a problem with Latin letters in the same paragraph with non-Latin letters, make sure you set your font for Western langGroup in Edit | Preference | Appearance | Font | Western to truetype fonts (e.g. Bitstream Vera) instead of type 1 fonts (e.g. Luxi Mono).
